Why is a winning mindset so important to attract ideal new clients into your business?

A winning mindset is a powerful tool to solve the challenge of not having enough clients. If you embrace a winning mindset, it will help you attract more clients quickly and consistently into your business.

In today’s blog post, I will explain why a winning mindset is so important and how to change your current mindset (Phase II). Then I will also describe nine essential elements of a winning mindset. This article builds upon blog post 8 – Phase I (March 2020).

How can you create a consistent flow of ideal new clients?

If you embrace a winning mindset, you will think and act differently. Attracting new clients will then feel easy because you´re focused on solving challenges and are motivated by them.

Challenge: Attraction and retention of clients

Most business owners find it challenging to maintain a consistent flow of ideal new clients and sometimes even to retain existing clients.

Solution: Looking at deeper issues

Everything in your business starts with YOU. If you´re not attracting or retaining clients, it´s time to look at any deeper issues you need to address.

For example:

  • You don´t want to face rejections or
  • You aren´t confident enough to make sales calls or
  • Your thoughts, feelings, beliefs, habits sabotage your success or
  • Your current mindset prevents you from being successful.

In essence, your thoughts, emotions, and unconscious beliefs determine if you will attract ideal new clients or not.

Ask yourself:

  • What is the root cause of not being able to attract or retain ideal clients?
  • What are my thoughts and feelings when I need to make a sales call?
  • How do I feel when I talk to a client?
  • What do I believe about myself, my skills, and my ability to help clients?
  • What story do I tell myself? 

How can you change your mindset?

You can change your mindset by changing your interpretation of events, people’s reactions, and circumstances.

Challenge: Your current mindset

Does your current mindset support your success by helping you to recover your focus and persevere despite any challenges you might face? Or does it hold you back and limit your success?

Exercise: Determine where you are at right now: 

  • What do you think about yourself and the success of your business?
  • How do these thoughts make you feel?
  • What actions do you take when you feel this way?
  • What is the focus of your internal monologue? For example, is it on judging yourself “I’m not good enough, I can´t do it, etc.”

Solution: Developing a winning mindset

In order to develop a winning mindset, you must shift your internal monologue from defeatism and self-doubt towards resilience, confidence, and perseverance.

Your new internal self-talk can then include questions such as:

  • “What can I learn from this challenge?”
  • “How can I become better in what I do and create a larger positive impact in the world?
  • “What do I need to develop in myself in order to achieve the next level of mastery?”

Exercise: New empowering story

At the core, it comes down to the story you tell yourself. Ask yourself:

  • What will happen if I start to tell myself a different story, an empowering story in which I will create more success in my business?
  • Write down your answers.
  • Re-write the old story and create a new empowering story!

From the time we’re born, we develop certain lenses (=mindsets) for how we view the world. This makes up our current perspective of the world, how we interact with other people, how we run our business, and how successful we are.

Solution: Nine elements of a winning mindset

There are nine essential elements that will support the development of a winning mindset. Each element will give you the opportunity to check if your current perspective is valuable or if you should adapt and change.

  • Element #5: Perseverance
  • Element #6: Confidence
  • Element #7: Growth Mindset
  • Element #8: Resilience & Performing Under Pressure
