If so work on them and make them better.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; color: #000000;\">If you have no core competencies, then look at ones that you could develop.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; color: #000000;\">If any of these things do not contribute to a core competence<strong><b>, <\/b><\/strong>ask yourself if you can <strong>outsource<\/strong> them effectively.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; color: #000000;\">If you&#8217;re working very hard, and you&#8217;re still finding it difficult to make a profit, then you need to think carefully about crafting a <strong>unique competitive position<\/strong>.This may involve developing core competencies that are relevant.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; color: #00ccff;\"><strong><b>Step #4: <\/b><\/strong><strong><b>What is the best way to<\/b><\/strong><strong><b>\u00a0test your companies core competencies?<\/b><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; color: #000000;\">Hamel and Prahalad provide<strong><b>\u00a0<\/b><\/strong>three tests\u00a0to see whether they are true core competencies:<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; color: #00ccff;\"><strong><b>Test #1 &#8211;<\/b><\/strong>\u00a0<strong><b>Relevance<\/b><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; color: #000000;\">The company\u00b4s competence must give your customer something that strongly influences them to choose your product or service over others.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; color: #000000;\">If it does not, then it has no effect on your competitive position and is not a core competence.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; color: #00ccff;\"><strong><b>Test #2 &#8211;<\/b><\/strong>\u00a0<strong><b>Difficulty of imitation<\/b><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; color: #000000;\">The core competence is difficult to imitate.
